Amadeus Cho is set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and excitingly, he will be portrayed by Logan Kim, known for his role as Podcast in the recent Ghostbusters films. This news comes from reliable source Daniel Richtman and marks a significant moment, considering Amadeus is a vital ally to both the Incredible Hulk and Hercules in the comics.
The introduction of Amadeus Cho follows the earlier appearance of his mother, Helen Cho, played by Claudia Kim in Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2015. Created by writer Greg Pak and artist Takeshi Miyazawa, Amadeus first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in 2005. Often depicted as a 19-year-old Korean American genius, he is recognized as one of the smartest individuals on Earth. In the comics, he eventually takes over the Hulk mantle from Bruce Banner, primarily retaining his intelligence and emotional stability even in his Hulk form. After facing challenges with his Hulk persona, he evolves into a new identity called Brawn, joining superhero teams like Champions and Agents of Atlas.
With Marvel Studios developing a Young Avengers project that is likely to feature characters from both the Young Avengers and Champions comic lines, Amadeus’s transformation into Brawn could happen soon. Currently, the confirmed members of the MCU’s Young Avengers include Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani, and Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld. Additionally, Cassie Lang, played by Kathryn Newton, is being hinted at as another potential recruit.
Other young superheroes introduced in the MCU who are associated with the Young Avengers include Billy and Tommy Maximoff from WandaVision, Eli Bradley from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Kid Loki from Loki, America Chavez from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Riri Williams from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Before making his live-action debut, Amadeus Cho will appear in the upcoming Marvel animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, set in an alternate MCU reality where Peter Parker is mentored by Norman Osborn. In this series, Amadeus is depicted as Peter’s close friend. While no official premiere date has been announced for the animated series, it is expected to launch on Disney+ by the end of the year.
